Autumn Loving

Hello all,

I am back! The summer flew by in a whirlwind, and before I knew it I was back at uni and with work piling up on top of me almost instantly I was unable to keep up with blogging unfortunately. However, I am back for good and am planning on producing so much content for my favourite time of year (autumn/christmas time if you hadn’t already guessed).

I spent most of September and October longing for the colder weather, the falling leaves and the pretty sunsets, and now that they are all here I couldn’t be happier. There is something magical about the autumn afternoon sun, and spending time in the countryside at this time of year is my favourite thing to do. Recently my boyfriend and I took a trip to the New Forest, to a town called Beaulieu, which is like something out of a fairytale. It is such a quaint little village, on the edge of the river, where wild ponies graze at the side of the road and the world seems so pass by at a much slower pace. We walked from the car along the river to an even smaller village called Bucklers Hard, where we stopped at the pub and had a hearty lunch, before walking back again.

As well as the lovely weather in autumn, I also love autumn clothes. Knitted jumpers are my obsession, and oranges, mustards and reds are all colours which feature heavily in my wardrobe at this time of year. I love to throw on a cosy knit, a pair of jeans and some chelsea boots for a day in the country, where I will be warm, comfortable but still look super cute.

Notting Hill: The Instagram Guide

Recently I took a day trip to London to explore the beautiful Notting Hill. Whilst sadly I didn’t find Hugh Grant, I did find some gorgeous, very instagrammable places. We walked from Notting Hill Gate station down towards Portobello Road Market, which was just so full of colour, vibrancy and life. It was so interesting to walk down the road and look at all the lovely, quirky shops and stalls, and I had to stop myself from buying a hell of a lot of lovely things. We passed the infamous Hummingbird Bakery, and Farm Girl Cafe, but eventually decided to eat at Farmacy Cafe instead (stay tuned for a post all about this soon), which was delicious and re-fueled us for more exploring. There were so many amazing coloured houses, a real photographers dream, and it was such a lovely experience just walking around and taking it all in. I would definitely recommend a trip here, its super stylish with loads of things to do and see, and the perfect place for those all important Instagram photos. To see what I wear when I was there, hop over to this post and take a look. Let me know where your favourite Notting Hill haunt is, I would love some more recommendations for next time!

Love Not Hate

Recently I have been loving wearing slogan t-shirts. I find them so easy and versatile to wear, easy to thrown on with some jeans or a skirt for a casual but cool look. My absolute favourite one is this one from Primark. It is a soft white cotton, with red velvet effect letters spelling out the words ‘love not hate’. As well as being a gorgeous and affordable top (I think it was only £6), I feel that in the the light of recent tragedies across the globe, this slogan is entirely apt. I know that by just wearing a t-shirt I can’t make much of a difference, but spreading such a positive message can never be a bad thing. I have received many compliments on it, with people remarking on the slogan, so I think it really is a very good buy.

On this occasion, I decided to match the red on the top to this red skirt, also from Primark. It seems from this post that I wear a lot of Primark clothes, which I don’t think is anything to be ashamed of. Their prices are so affordable, and while not everything they sell is my cup of tea, they have some incredible pieces which definitely don’t look as cheap as they really are. My wardrobe ranges from Primark pieces, to general high-street clothes right through to vintage and designer pieces, and you shouldn’t be afraid of shopping on the high-street, there are some real bargains to be had.

With the top and skirt, I decided to dress it down a bit as I was just spending the day walking around notting hill, and didn’t need to be too fancy. I wore my Stan Smith’s which gave the outfit a really casual vibe, then my beloved Mulberry Darley Satchel, and a pair of New Look sunglasses to finish the outfit off. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I think an outfit like this is perfect for a casual summer day, and something that I will definitely be reaching for again in the weeks to come.

Thank you for reading, come back again for more fashion and lifestyle posts like this one.

Romantic Richmond Park

I have recently taken a few trips to the beautiful richmond park. A few weeks ago, when the weather was substantially warmer than it is now, me and my boyfriend went to the park on a beautiful sunny evening. We got takeaway pizzas from pizza express (my absolute favourite pizza), and went and ate them in amongst the beauty of the park, and were even joined by a few deer at one point!

If you are in the area, I urge you to take a visit. The park is huge, with so much open space to explore, and you can spend hours walking around and marvelling at it’s beauty. My favourite area of the park is a lovely pond, where you can watch the ducks and various other birds, and standing by the water is so peaceful.

The evening I spent there was so beautiful, its such a romantic place, and perfect for a little picnic.

Flower Power

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This week we have been unusually blessed in the UK by gloriously sunny weather, and extreme heat (too hot, some may say), and so finding things to wear has been a challenge. There is nothing worse than finding a lovely outfit to wear, only to find that as soon as you put it on you are sweating buckets and are entirely uncomfortable. To avoid having this issue I have been wearing a lot of loose, flowy clothes in order to keep as cool as possible in the heat.

My favourite thing to wear at times like these are little sundresses. My wardrobe is full of them, I have them in so many different colours and patterns, and one for every occasion (some would say I have a clothes problem, I would disagree). At the moment I am loving florals (florals for spring/summer? so original – 10 points if you can name that quote), cliche I know, but when the sun is out I immediately want to dress in bright colours, pretty patterns and floaty fabrics. A sundress and sandals is probably the most minimal clothing you can get away with wearing on a day-to-day basis, and although I would love to just live my life in a bikini, I don’t think the world would want to see that.

Last Saturday I took my dad out for a pre-fathers day lunch on what was an exceedingly hot day, and so I went to my go-to dress, this beautiful little sundress from H&M. I got it a couple of years ago, however they still do a dress in a very similar style and pattern, and also have a lot of different similar dresses to choose from. I paired it with some gorgeous sandals from Primark, which were an absolute steal at £4! The pink velvet ribbons make them slightly dressier than your average sandals, which I love. I took my trusty Steve Madden handbag, and the pompom which I have on there matched the pink flowers on the dress, and my shoes – I love a bit of co-ordination me. This outfit kept me cool, but was slightly dressier than shorts and a t-shirt which is perfect for a trip out for lunch.

The Beefy Boys

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Living in Herefordshire there isn’t much in the way of exciting, cosmopolitan eateries, however recently there have been an increasing number of independent, street food inspired cafes and restaurants, which has made Hereford city a much more exciting and interesting place to live. In 2016, a restaurant called The Beefy Boys opened in a new development in Hereford centre, and it has quickly become one of the best places to eat around.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

They describe themselves as ‘an award winning street food team from Hereford’, who started off working on a stall at events, before competing in a burger competition which named them as the producers of the UK’s best burger in 2014, and then came second in the world championships in 2015. Then in 2016 they opened their now infamous restaurant which has become a highlight of Hereford.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

They specialise in burgers, from the simple ‘beefy boy’ hamburger, to a pizza burger, a macaroni burger as well as having great vegetarian options. I am a vegetarian, so I can’t speak for the meat burgers, but I know that ‘the bean boy’ is hands down the best veggie burger that I’ve ever had, and it’s what I order time and time again. Friends, family members and even my boyfriend who has eaten many burgers in his lifetime, all agree that Beefy boys is one of, if not the best burger they have ever eaten.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The sides are also great, with my favourite being the ‘millionaire fries’, skinny fries with truffle oil, parmesan cheese and chives with a chipotle mayo dip. It’s certainly not a place for the health conscious, but it’s a delicious treat that I think everyone should be able to try. If you are ever in the area, then Beefy boys is the place to go, trust me, you won’t regret it.

Pimms, Pizza and Gingham lovin’

Photo 03-06-2017, 19 59 14

The other weekend me and my flatmates decided to have a rare girls night for food, wine and a good catch up. It gave me the opportunity to whack out a new dress that I discovered in Primark of all places. I have been seeing a lot of girls nailing the gingham trend on Instagram recently, but I’ve always thought that gingham would make me look a little bit house on the prairie, and not work practically in my day-day wardrobe. However, when I was browsing in Primark the other week, I came across this pretty gingham dress on the rack for £5 (yes you did hear that right)! I tried it on thinking that it probably wouldn’t suit me, however when I did I fell in love and of course I had to buy it.

It’s a really versatile piece that you can dress up or down. In this case I paired it with some simple plimsolls so as not to dress it up too much, but equally it would look great with some barely-there heels for a more sophisticated look.

We went to a lovely restaurant in Southampton called L’Osteria which had the most amazing pizzas. They told us when we ordered that the pizzas were big, but we didn’t quite realise how big they were until we were confronted by these huge plates. However we accepted the challenge, and despite me being 5ft3 and a size 8, I somehow managed to fit the entire 18 inch pizza in my belly in one sitting (although I had to be rolled home afterwards). It was a lovely evening, and gave me a chance to try out this new gingham trend as well as indulge in some delicious pimms and pizza. If you are in southampton you should definitely give L’Osteria a try.

A Windy Trip To Bournemouth

Photo 27-05-2017, 13 29 15Photo 27-05-2017, 13 33 32

Hello all,

Recently I took a day trip to the seaside town of Bournemouth with a few of my girls. We were in the midst of exams (Luckily i have now finished for the summer), and needed a break from the stress of uni, so we decided to take the train to the seaside and spend a day at the beach. It had been boiling hot in the days leading up to when we went, so we thought we would be blessed with nice weather, but alas we were not. We woke up to grey skies and wind, but we persevered, determined we would have our beach day.

Photo 27-05-2017, 13 36 11

(T-shirt – H&M // skirt – Primark // Cardigan – H&M // Sandals – Primark)

Once we got off the train, it became apparent that our optimistic summer dress was going to result in us being freezing cold for the rest of the day, but we were still determined to have a nice time. We walked through Bournemouth to the sea front, and walked along the beach whilst being battered by winds which were definitely more than a strong breeze! We got to the end of the beach and became very hungry, so we walked back and sought solitude in Wetherspoons, where hot chocolate and chips revived us and gave us the energy to brave the beach again.

We walked back down to the seafront, and walked along the row of beach huts, admiring the colour palette of them all. We dipped our toes in the freezing cold water, and then set up camp along the beach behind a wall to try and shield us from the wind. Eventually the sun came out which made everything all worthwhile, so we lay and sunbathed just like all beach girls should. Unfortunately my pale skin then got very sunburnt, but it was a nice reminder that our efforts hadn’t been for nothing, and the sun, had in fact briefly come out.

Bournemouth beach is your typical English seaside resort, and lovely for a little day trip. You can walk along the pier, play in the arcade, stroll along next to the colourful beach huts, eat fish and chips at the edge of the freezing cold sea, and watch the world go by. It was such a nice break from exams and work and I will definitely be going back again soon.

Tom Walker at Omera London

Photo 24-05-2017, 21 12 33

Last Wednesday evening my boyfriend and I took a trip into London to go and see Tom Walker perform. If you haven’t heard of Tom, he’s a 25 year-old singer-songwriter from Manchester. I fell in love with his music when I heard his song ‘Fly Away With Me’ on a Spotify playlist a few months ago. I made my boyfriend listen to the song and he really liked it, and from then on we have both really enjoyed his music.

So for my boyfriend’s birthday I bought us tickets to go and see Tom Walker perform in London together. We got the train into London from Surrey, and got the tube to London bridge. I felt quite proud of myself, as being a born and bred country girl, getting the tube at rush hour on a weekday is not something I’m used to, or feel particularly comfortable with, but I coped with it. We were a bit early for the gig so we went to Pizza Express for dinner (I am a self-confessed pizza addict and will eat it anytime, anywhere).

We were still early for the gig when we got to the venue, so we sat outside in the sun under the shadow of The Shard drinking cider and it was just perfect. When Tom came onto perform later on, I was shocked at how amazing his voice sounded in real life. A lot of singers and musicians don’t sound as good in real life, but if anything, Tom sounded better! It was a very enjoyable evening, and if any of you are Tom Walker fans, I urge you to go and see him live, its definitely worth it.
